Arizona Universities, Accredited Colleges, and Degrees

All postsecondary schools in Arizona are the responsibility of the Arizona Commission for Postsecondary Education (ACPE). This commission operates to make higher education in Arizona more affordable and accessible as well as foster higher education success among the state's residents. Thus, the ACPE offers tools for students to plan their college education from academic and financial standpoints. It also serves as a resource for students, providing them with financial aid information.

Arizona is home to 50 four-year universities. The largest of these universities are the University of Arizona and Arizona State University. Both of these happen to be the state's most prestigious schools as well as the biggest schools in the state with online programs. Arizona has taken several steps to increase enrollment and graduation rates in its postsecondary system. First, it is a member of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE). WICHE is a group of 16 states that work collectively to improve residents' access to affordable education. In being a member of WICHE, Arizona has participated in several higher education initiatives, including the Western Regional Graduate, the Western Undergraduate Exchange, and the Professional Student Exchange programs. All of these programs work to aid students in their pursuit of a higher education, whether it be through out-of-state institutions or by locating a school that offers a degree difficult to find at the majority of postsecondary schools. Arizona also retains a membership with U.Select, which empowers students to understand their transfer options by providing course equivalency information on participating schools in 19 U.S. states.

Meanwhile, many online universities in Arizona are available, which increases residents' access to higher education. The best colleges in Arizona with online programs are North Arizona University and Arizona State University. North Arizona University offers more than 80 online degree and certificate programs at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. Similarly, Arizona State University hosts several bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree and certificate programs that can be completed online.

The initiative is specifically designed to accommodate international students. More specifically, it works to make higher education available to students from developing countries who study in the U.S.
