People in New Jersey do more than garden. People in New Jersey go to college. Scholarships are very often the only way that some students will be able to afford to pay for their college educations. In the state of New Jersey, there are certainly students who need scholarships. Student loans only pay for a limited amount of the cost, and freshmen receive less than upperclassmen. This means that to get to the point that students are eligible for more in federal student loans, which they must manage to pay for the first two years first. This can create quite a conundrum without scholarships. Very often, students will find that different states will offer scholarships that are not offered to students or residents in any other state. In the state of New Jersey this is true like it is for anywhere else.

Students in New Jersey who need funding for college should consider the Harry Y. Cotton Memorial Scholarship. This award is available for students who are New Jersey residents in four year institutions or post-graduate studies. This scholarship is only available to students who have been admitted into a law school. Furthermore, the student must have an expressed interest in prosecuting hate crimes or domestic violence cases. This is a one time scholarship. High school students are not considered, and students must file financial need papers. The minimum award amount is $2500. This is only open to US citizens.

The Edward J. Bloustein Distinguished Scholars award is given to students in New Jersey. This scholarship is only available to students who scored in the top ten percent on the SAT exams, and they must have a combined score of 1260 or higher. Almost $5,000,000 was given out to students last year through this program. Students who are awarded this scholarship must be nominated by their high school in order to be considered. They must be New Jersey residents, and they must also be planning to attend New Jersey two or four year colleges or universities. To be considered, students must also be US citizens and full-time students.
