Finding the finances to fund an education can be difficult for many students but those who work hard and apply themselves to their school work may find it rewarded through Missouri scholarships. Missouri scholarships are available in many forms and can apply to students in general or to students within a particular field of study. Many scholarships apply to minority groups or differently abled groups as well.
The Missouri Department of Education offers scholarships that apply to several categories of students. One of the general scholarships is the Missouri College Gaurentee Program. This scholarship seeks to provide hard working students with financial assistance. Applicants must be full time students an enrolled in two or four year college or university program and citizens of the United States. Students who apply must have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA. Students have been active in extracurricular programs are well suited to this scholarship. Students should include test scores and financial need analysis with their application form. Recipients of this scholarship can receive up to $4,900 and up to 4,016 students may receive awards.
Students who are at the top 3% of the ACT and SAT scores may be eligible to receive the Missouri Higher Education Scholarship (Bright Flight). Applicants must be attending a full time program at an accredited Missouri university or college. Applicants must be United States citizens that are residing in Missouri. Those who receive this scholarship will be awarded no less than $2,000. This award can be reapplied for, for up to ten semesters.Young people in the state of Missouri will find that there are many scholarships to apply for. With a scholarship award, student will have less financial burden and will have less of a need, if any, to work through school. By eliminating the need for a part time job, students will be able to concentrate more on their studies. They will also find they have time to get involved in activities like student groups, organization, and other activities that can be beneficial to them in the future. Activities like these are not only beneficial for finding quality employment when they graduate but they are an enjoyable part of a college life and will enrich students' experiences.
