The state of Michigan has literally thousands of financial aid opportunities for those wishing to attend either its universities or colleges. This provides potential students with an enormous scope of available Michigan scholarships that they can apply for when considering the state of Michigan as the site for their continuing education. As most former students can tell you, any amount of financial benefit received that can offset the cost of a college education will certainly be a welcome relief both now and in years to come. By lowering your education costs now you also lower the amount which you must repay if receiving student loans.
One of the many Michigan scholarships available to both two and four year college students is the Michigan Competitive Scholarship. This award is limited to tuition and recipients must maintain a C average while meeting the college’s academic progress requirements. Federal student aid applications must be filed and the student must also be a Michigan resident. There also is a renewable award of thirteen hundred dollars for undergraduate study at any Michigan institution. When applying for this scholarship, test scores and a financial needs analysis are required. The grant amount ranges from one hundred dollars to a maximum of thirteen hundred dollars.
Another of the many Michigan scholarships is the Michigan Educational Opportunity Grant. This scholarship is based on need and is applicable to all qualified universities as well as two year and four year college programs. The grant is for Michigan residents who are at minimum half time undergraduates attending Michigan colleges. Recipients must maintain a good academic standing and are eligible for an award of up to one thousand dollars. High school students are not considered for this scholarship and only citizens of the United States are eligible. As with most grants and scholarships that do not require repayment a financial needs analysis is required upon application.
These are just two of the many Michigan scholarships that are available when entertaining the idea of attending college or university in the state of Michigan. Along with grants that are awarded regardless of field of study there are also hundreds of scholarships available for specific areas of expertise throughout the state.
