Throughout the state of Massachusetts there are thousands of students who are seeking financial aid each year to help defer the high costs of either a college or university education. Many different Massachusetts scholarships are available to these students and with each grant there are certain eligibility requirements.
One of these many Massachusetts scholarships is the Massachusetts Cash Grant Program which enables students who are enrolled at both universities and colleges to offset education costs with tuition need-based grants. Along with helping lower tuition costs the grant helps with mandatory fees and is available to undergraduate students who are also Massachusetts residents. This particular award is not available to high school students but must be applied for by full time college students who are also United States citizens. The amount awarded varies from as low as one hundred and fifty dollars to maximum of nineteen hundred dollars. Over thirty thousand grants were awarded last year alone totaling almost thirty five million dollars. A financial need analysis is required when applying for this scholarship.
Another of the many popular Massachusetts scholarships is the Massachusetts Assistance for Student Success Program. This is available to those attending both two year and four year colleges as well as qualified universities. This particular scholarship provides a need-based financial assistance package to those residents of Massachusetts who are also enrolled on a full time basis. Between twenty five thousand and thirty thousand awards are granted each year to applicants who are citizens of the United States. A financial needs analysis is required upon application. There are scholarships totaling as little as three hundred dollars to a high of twenty three hundred dollars. During the last calendar year thirty seven thousand scholarships were awarded totaling twenty seven million dollars.
These are just two of the many Massachusetts scholarships available to students looking to further their education in the state. As is the case with most students, every small amount of financial help is usually a welcome relief when deciding the location of the college or university of your choice. So before making your final decision, be sure to consult every available reference. This will hopefully make the financial burden of learning a little less painful.
