Teachers are a valuable resource in our time. They play a role in shaping the young minds of our future leaders and our children spend a large portion of our time with them. It is only logical that our country should invest financially in their education in the form of teaching scholarships. Teaching scholarships ensure that our future teachers are able to spend quality time learning without having to worry as much about part time jobs while they are in school. It also encourages our youth to consider teaching as a potential future career.

Student who are interested in early childhood education should consider applying for the Bright Futures Award through Bright Horizons Family Solutions. They want to recognize early childhood teachers a being the cornerstone of a successful society through scholarships and awards. They hope to encourage students who wish to pursue a dream of teaching, caring, nurturing, and mentoring tomorrow's children. Four $2,500 awards are given out in the following categories: 1. students in the second year of an associate degree program, 2. students entering their junior year in a bachelor degree program, 3. students enrolled in a masters program, and 4. students in a master's degree program who are working towards becoming a director of a childcare program. Applicants should have demonstrated interested in working with children under the age of nine years and have a minimum of nine months experience working with this age group. They should have displayed excellence in their fields and have experience in overcoming obstacles to reach their goals. Non-traditional and minority students are welcome to apply. Recommendations, an essay, transcripts, and a resume are all required in the application process.
