Students who have obtained their Bachelor's degree know that it will get them a long way but getting a Graduate Degree is even better. Those who have a Graduate Degree are taken more seriously and have even more learning and employers who are looking to fill top positions are eager to get qualified candidates into the company. However, after getting through the first four years of university or college, coming up with the funding to pay for graduate school can be difficult. Or, if students have worked their way through the first four years, they may find that they need to find other sources of income to pay for their college or university graduate school so that they are better able to concentrate on their studies. Grad school scholarships are one of the options that every graduate student should consider. Grad school scholarships are available for most fields of study and vary in the award amount. Each university of college should have their own scholarships, but there are many others that grad students can benefit from.

The New Leader Scholarship is one of the many Grad school scholarships that are available. Annually, the Goldman Family Fund of the Marin Community Foundation, awards renewable scholarships with a value of up to $7,000. Applicants must have attended school for at least a year and out of 60 credits, 30 of the credits must have been obtained from the school they are currently registered at. Students that apply should have a 3.5 GPA but student with 3.2 – 3.49 may be considered under special circumstances. Applicants should be able to demonstrate financial need and should be pursuing a career in public service, education in social sciences, health related fields, or human services. Applicants must be citizens of the United States but do not need to be Marin County residents to apply. Scholarships are available at select schools.

Graduate students should consult the Financial Aid office at their school to find out what scholarships are available through the school but they can also access online resources as well. Grad school scholarships can be found through scholarship sites like FastWeb and other sites that help students find funding for grad school.
