A Master of Public Administration in justice administration is designed to prepare students to work in management positions in law enforcement agencies, corrections departments, court and legal settings as well as in public administration in government agencies relating to justice or justice administration. The program is individualized to allow each student to complete an in depth review or project on their own agency or service to demonstrate their competency with the course material. Technology and new advances in information systems and computer applications with regards to justice administration will be emphasized throughout the program.
In addition specific courses in management in law enforcement, corrections and other legal fields, management of resources, financial planning and development, personnel training, work environments and culture, staff retention and professional development are also considered throughout the course. Students will examine various models of justice administration and also learn how to make effective decisions and communicate with other management team members.
