The doctor of education program from Walden University provides teachers with the education necessary to perfect their teaching skills and then use these acquisitions to improve student learning in schools, classrooms, and at district levels. Designed for teachers of K-12, the doctor of education program allows them to continue teaching while assuming roles in leadership in their community and schools. Offered in the doctor of education program are specializations in either Administrator Leadership for Teaching and Learning or Teacher Leadership. Teachers entering into the doctor of education course of study choose their specialization and use independent study to attain them.
A teacher with a doctor of education degree often enters careers as administrative professionals, vice-principal, principal, superintendent principal or become teacher-leaders. Graduate students understand school-wide issues and use their knowledge and skills to lead and communicate with others, to improve the education experience for all students.
