The Bachelor of Science in health information management from the University of Cincinnati will give graduates the theory and skills needed to work in the dynamic and rapidly evolving world of information systems. The graduate will also have a strong foundation in management skills in addition to the technology component of the class. Ethical and legal considerations in information management as well as security issues with online transfer or network transfer of information, database management and storage of information will all be included in the course of study.
Graduates of the program can work as health information managers, system designers, web administrators, database developers, designers and administrators. Emphasis will be placed on security and privacy issues, computer programming, computer applications and software programs for health information management. The courses will include financial planning and budget development, assessment and analysis of health information systems and troubleshooting problems within databases and information systems.
