Understanding the basic principles of interior design and using them to develop personal style is the objective of this degree program. Students will learn how to review a space, create design ideas using computer software, and staging rooms and other spaces. Learning how to balance personal style with client expectations will also be taught. Students will be able to find employment in interior design firms, as consultants, or in architecture firms. Working with others is a challenge for most creative people, so learning more about effective communication will help students make the adjustment.
Courses students will need to complete in order to earn their degree include drawing, color theory, interior finishing, communications, project management, budget creation, and computer applications. These courses will give students a well-rounded education that they can use when looking for employment and when on job sites.
