Those who work in health management have many responsibilities including overseeing patient care, medical records, staffing, insurance and billing, and public relations. While health management positions can vary in actual job responsibilities, it is important for students to have an understanding of these tasks so they will be prepared when they apply for a job within the health care system. Students will be able to find employment in hospitals, hospice care, medical offices, clinics, and nursing facilities. While medical experience is not always needed for each position, those who have worked in the medical field may be able to bring more to a position than those who do not.
Courses students will have to complete in order to earn their degree include health care management, human relations, public speaking, medial billing and coding, medical terminology, finance, marketing, and project management.
