Students who want to pursue a career in accounting will be able to find employment in accounting firms, accounting departments within companies and other organizations, and small businesses. A degree in accounting will teach students how to analyze data, compile data for presentations, maintain accurate tax records, and be able to show profits and expenses of a company. Those who work in accounting should be able to perform all of these duties.
Courses students will need to complete in order to earn their degree include principles of accounting, business and technology accounting, project management, law of taxation, and database management. Accounting departments are also called on to create budgets for departments, handle billing, and monitor corporate spending. Students will learn the skills, which include computer applications and business law, that are necessary to enter into a career in accounting by earning a degree from this program.
