Virginia College Online is committed to offering a variety of degree programs that strengthen students’ abilities to enter or maintain a chosen career. The school hopes to create a learning experience and placement opportunities that are enhanced through studies that provide a balance of general academics, technical skills, and personal growth. The ultimate goal of Virginia College is to prepare its students to enter employment, be successful, and become valuable members of the workforce and their community.
In 1983, Virginia College was founded in Roanoke, Virginia. The college has campuses in Birmingham, Huntsville and Mobile, Alabama; Pensacola, Florida; Jackson and Biloxi, Mississippi; and Austin, Texas. The school also operates the Culinary Institute of Virginia College in Birmingham, the Virginia Technical College, the Virginia College School of Construction, as well as the Golf Academy Schools with campuses in several locations across the U.S.
Virginia College is somewhat unique in that it’s a proprietary college, meaning that it offers classes that are often specific to a certain profession. While the college offers many degrees that other colleges do, it also gives students the ability to pursue a concentrated education in a particular profession. Professors are often people who have worked and may still be working in the profession they are teaching, giving students real world advice and experience.
Students taking classes online will be able to earn Bachelor's, graduate and Associate's degrees through entirely online studies. The courses are given in a flexible format so students can work deadlines into their own schedules and the cost of textbooks is included in the tuition so extra fees are kept to a minimum. Online degree programs include Business Administration, Golf Course Management, Criminal Justice and much more.
