The mission of St. Joseph’s College is to provide an academic and value-oriented education at the undergraduate and graduate levels that is firmly rooted in a liberal arts tradition that supports career preparation and enhancement. The College aims to prepare each student for a life characterized by integrity, intellectual and spiritual values, social responsibility, and service to the community.
St. Joseph’s College began as a women’s-only institution founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Brentwood, NY, in 1916. During the 1970s, the college began admitting men and expanded to include a branch campus in addition to the main Brooklyn campus in Patchogue, New York. The school continues to grow and expand to this day, adding new degree programs and further expanding its campuses to accommodate new students.
The college is best known for its academic reputation in a few select fields. The school’s Liberal Arts program is highly respected and students will also find a highly developed teacher education program as well. The college is also known for its dedication to keeping class sizes small, making it easier for students and instructors to interact and get one on one attention.
For those with busy and hectic schedules, St. Joseph’s College also offers an online campus for students. The online program is student-centered, and students will have access through phone and e-mail to advisors who can help them plan their course of study. Online classes also have technical support available at all times so that students will never be unable to access class materials. At this time the school has a limited number of programs that are fully online, but more could be added in the future. Students can currently enroll to earn a B.S. in Organizational Management or various other professional certifications.
