Franklin University aspires to be a student-centered institution of higher learning that works with qualified professionals in the business and professional community to provide students with the best career and educational resources. The school hopes to meet the special needs of adult professionals who must balance education with the demands of busy family and working lives.
Franklin University was founded in Columbus, Ohio, in 1902 with the help of YMCA sponsorship as the School of Commerce. In 1964, the university separated from the YMCA, and by 1969 had moved to a new location and established itself as Franklin University, the campus which is still in use today. Franklin’s campus expands over 10 acres today and includes both old buildings as well as newly renovated buildings like the Student Services Center. The school also operates three other campuses in Ohio in Dublin, Westerville and Delaware.
Franklin provides several degree programs but is best known for its Business Education programs. Franklin's Vantage MBA Program is one of the largest and most respected in central Ohio, and can even be completed entirely online for busy professionals. The school is also distinct in its dedication to providing flexible options for distance learners. There are multiple start dates throughout the year so students can begin when it's convenient for them. The school has also been named by the U.S. Department of Education as one of the first 15 colleges to participate in a pilot program allowing unlimited distance education students to be eligible for financial aid, making education a reality for many who could not afford it otherwise.
Students learning online with Franklin will have access to books and materials, faculty, other students and a range of student services from academic advisors to financial aid assistance. Franklin offers over sixteen different undergraduate majors to students taking classes online. Programs include Accounting, Business Management, Marketing, Web Development and much more. There is also an online MBA program for business professionals who want to attain a higher degree but don’t have the time to attend traditional classes.
