Florida Hospital College’s mission is to provide an environment where students can develop spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically while pursuing their education. As a Seventh-day Adventist organization, the integration of Christian values into the educational experience is also of great importance to Florida Hospital College. The school hopes to provide the highest quality education to produce professionals who are caring, competent, respect others and have a love of learning.
The site of the current Florida Hospital College was originally The Florida Hospital School of Nursing which operated from 1913 until 1958. It was not until 1992 that the current College was formed by the merger of four programs: Nursing, Practical Nursing, Sonography, and Radiography. Since that time the college has added numerous degree programs including Occupational Therapy Assistant, Health Sciences and Nuclear Medical Technology. The school’s main campus is located conveniently in downtown Orlando, Florida, adjacent to the Florida Hospital.
Florida Hospital College can offer students great learning experiences in the medical field as it is internationally recognized for its programs in heart and orthopedic surgery, organ transplantation, and limb replantation. Students have the opportunity to learn from the neighboring hospital as well as from a Learning Resource Center and campus library. The school also promotes the Campus Ministries which offer drama, music, and other fun programs that allow students to meet and engage with classmates.
For students with a love of health care but no means to attend formal classes, Florida Hospital College offers affordable and educational distance learning options online. Students will be able to work towards Bachelor degrees in Nursing, Radiologic Sciences, and Medical Sonography from the comfort of their own homes. Course content is delivered through the college’s website or sent through the mail directly to the student’s home.
