The vision of Champlain college is to be a leader in helping to educate students not only in becoming skilled and effective professionals but also in being thoughtful, globally-minded citizens. Champlain aims to take a unique approach to this goal by blending technology, leadership, innovation, and fiscal responsibility, all while keeping in mind the commitment to the “human touch” in educating students to pursue studies in business, applied technology, and public service.
Champlain college was founded in 1878 by G.W. Thompson in scenic Burlington, Vermont. Originally called the Burlington Collegiate Institute and located in downtown Burlington, today the school is located on a site that overlooks Lake Champlain. The buildings on campus are a mix of Victorian-era mansions and high tech facilities. The school also has a study abroad campus in Montreal, Quebec, one of the largest French speaking cities in the world.
Champlain is distinctive in its dedication to being a global college. In addition to the campus in Quebec, the school offers several other study abroad programs in India and Europe. It was also cited in the New York Times as one of eight schools making the leap into globalism. Additionally, the school is consistently ranked as one of the best Comprehensive Colleges in the North by U.S. News and World Report.
