South Carolina Universities, Accredited Colleges, and Degrees

South Carolina's system of higher education includes several nationally recognized universities, such as Clemson University, Citadel Military College of South Carolina, and the University of South Carolina. With eight locations throughout South Carolina, the University of South Carolina is the flagship institution of the state's public higher education system. South Carolina is also home to dozens of private colleges and universities, including Anderson University, Bob Jones University, ITT Technical Institute, and the University of Phoenix.

The top colleges in South Carolina are the University of South Carolina, Clemson University, College of Charleston, and Coastal Carolina University. The University of South Carolina serves more than 30,000 students at its main campus in Columbia. The university offers 324 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in business, engineering, law, nursing, and more. The institution also has campuses in seven other locations, including Aiken, Beaufort, and Spartanburg. With nearly 20,000 students, Clemson University is the second largest college in South Carolina. The university, known across the country for its NCAA football program, offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in education, economics, chemistry, engineering, and more. Clemson University was ranked No. 68 in U.S. News' ranking of the top national universities. In addition to its on-campus offerings, the university also offers online graduate programs in construction science management, biological sciences, human resource development, engineering, and more. The university's online graduate engineering program was recognized by U.S. News' ranking of the top online engineering programs. It was ranked No. 6 for faculty credentials, No. 23 for student engagement and accreditation, and No. 46 in student services and technology.

Accredited Community Colleges in South Carolina

Trident Technical College and Greenville Technical College are the largest accredited junior colleges in South Carolina. The Charleston-based Trident Technical College offers certificate and associate degree programs in aeronautical studies, business technology, health sciences, and more to its more than 16,500 students. The college also offers five fully online certificate programs in medical transcribing, medical administration assisting, radiography, and medical coding. Greenville Technical College also offers students distance learning opportunities such as associate degree programs in health information management, computer technology, management, and marketing. The college also provides online certificate programs in computed tomography, mammography, and magnetic resonance imaging. These junior colleges are two of more than 15 community colleges in South Carolina.
