Kentucky Scholarships

When considering sources for financial aid if attending college or university in the state of Kentucky one of the best resources is the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority website. Once there, you can see a variety of Kentucky scholarships that are available to hopeful students across the state. Two of the most commonly sought after scholarships are the College Access Program (CAP) Grant and the Kentucky Tuition Grant (KTG). These two programs alone have provided students with financial aid totaling over fifty million dollars in the last calendar year, lifting a tremendous financial burden off of the shoulders of those who need help the most.

The College Access Program Grant is an award for Kentucky residents and United States citizens who do not have a previous college degree. Students must demonstrate a need for financial aid and submit a free application for Federal Student Aid. The grant currently provides fifty eight dollars per semester hour to a maximum of six hours per semester. High school students are not eligible for this award and the maximum award amount cannot exceed fourteen hundred dollars. The maximum number of awards is capped at forty thousand per year with a minimum of thirty five thousand being distributed.

The Kentucky Tuition Grant is another of the Kentucky scholarships that is highly sought after. Potential recipients are awarded by financial need and must be residents of Kentucky who are full time undergraduate students at an independent college within the state. A Federal Student Aid application is required and high school students cannot apply for this particular grant. The minimum award amount is two hundred dollars with the maximum award being two thousand four hundred dollars. This particular grant is available for both four year and two year colleges in the state.

These two Kentucky scholarships are just a small sampling of the financial aid that is available for university and colleges students across the state. If you find that you are in need of assistance and can prove financial need, the opportunities more abundant than you may believe when hoping to attain a college degree.
