One of the biggest obstacles to obtaining a Master's Degree after finishing a Bachelor's Degree is funding. It takes a lot of money to fund a degree and after the first four years students often find that they have to take time off from school to work and save some money. They need to save money before they go back to take their Master's Degree and many get caught up in the world of work and end up not going back at all. However, Masters Degree scholarships can give students the financial help they need to go from the Bachelor's Degree program right into taking their Master's Degree. They can find extra money in scholarship programs that will allow them to go to school without having to work at a job at the same time. This relieves a lot of pressure from students and allows them to spend more time on their studies.

The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation provides up to $30,000 to students who are pursuing Master's Degrees in the public service field. They also assist students by supplying them with information about and assistance in career counseling, professional development, grad school admissions, and internship placement. Applicants must be full time students with a completed Bachelor's Degree and citizens of the United States. The should have a past that includes participation in things like student government and/or campus based activities, community services activities outside the school, political activities and campaigns, or government internships or advocacy. The should have leadership qualities that can be seen through past activities.

Other Master's Degree Scholarships are available through individual Financial Aid offices and student should take the opportunity to visit the Financial Aid office on their campus. There are also, other scholarships that can be obtained online. Which ever means students use to find scholarships they will find that they can often obtain more than one scholarship per year. This gives them financial options that they may not have had before. Some offer other perks such as campus living facilities, laptop computers, and other things that will allow students to focus more on their studies. Students who do not have to work at a part-time job while they are obtaining their Master's Degree have a definite advantage over their classmates.
