A degree in writing provides the graduate with a wide range of professional opportunities in a huge number of careers. Graduates may find work as copywriters, ghost writers, editors, journalists, creative writers or authors, technical writers or writers for web designers or even as bloggers. A writing degree will often focus on one particular area of genre including children's stories, poetry, non-fiction, science fiction or music and song lyrics. Many writers will specialize in one type of writing such as advertising, informational writing or even writing for children's books or publications. Some web sites or freelance writing possibilities for speechwriters or document writers may also a great career choice. Writers are often able to work from home or from a remote location that allows them to set their own hours and pick and choose from assignments and projects.
