Distance Learning & Online Technology Management Degree Programs
If you take the time to look around any office and almost every home or workspace you will be amazed at the number of technology based pieces of equipment you will see. Items such as telephones, fax machines, cordless phones, cell phones, pagers, photocopies, computers, monitors and computer accessories are typically in large numbers in most work environments. A degree in technology management prepares the graduate to work with these various forms of technology and provide upkeep and maintenance as well as troubleshoot problems and make recommendations on new products and technology that would be most applicable to the workplace.
There are several different degrees in technology management ranging from associate to bachelor and then up to master degrees. Basic associates and bachelor degrees deal more specifically with the understanding of the systems, maintenance and requirements of the various types of technology. Classes in the associate and bachelor level programs will include computerized accounting, inventory control, network technology, integrating technology into the workplace as well as the evaluation and assessment of current technologies and the research of new and cutting edge technologies. Graduates of the bachelor level degree are eligible for technician and entry level management positions within companies and agencies.
Master level programs in technology management focus more on the management aspects. These courses will assist graduates in becoming analytical and evaluative thinkers, being able to design and implement the technology needs for the business and company using strong management skills. Financial aspects of technology management including budgets, strategic planning an organizational management will all be addressed throughout the programs. Students that graduate from a master level course of study in technology management will be prepared to work as mid to upper level managers in information technology or systems departments in any type of business, company or service industry.
