Distance Learning & Online Sales and Marketing Degree Programs
Graduates of a sales and marketing degree will find employment in almost any sector of the economy. Professionals trained in sales and marketing are necessary to promote the product or service that the company, business or industry is selling or distributing. Sales and marketing professionals are largely responsible for designing campaigns, expanding markets and keeping established products on the market in the minds of the consumers. Sales and marketing professionals may work locally, nationally or even internationally depending on the type of company or business they are working for. Graduates of advanced levels of training in sales and marketing and those with master and higher level degrees may also work as consultants, working on project by project basis to assist companies in marketing new or existing products and services.
Students in a sales and marketing program will also take classes on business management and choose an additional area of focus. Many students with an eye towards sales and marketing management or upper level management within a company will complete classes in finance, economics, international business, organizational management, leadership, human resource management, human behavior or other related courses. Many sales and marketing programs have an emphasis on research, developing and understanding of how to evaluate, analysis and understand market trends, and a strong understanding of the global marketplace, politics and international business.
Some students in the sales and marketing program may also choose to focus on the impact of technology within the field. E-business and e-commerce, web design, web sales management, internet marketing and development of online customer bases are also options for the sales and marketing student to consider. Most students will include some aspect of technology within their course of study since this has become one of the fastest growing marketing and sales areas internationally.
