Public policy includes careers in both government and non-government agencies that deal with the development and implementation of policies within a country, area, or global venue. Public policy may include making laws, regulations, guidelines and restrictions as well as enhancing development, industry, settlement or expansion of a given sector of the economy or area of the country. Issues around networking security, database management and access, public and private information sharing as well as global markets, economies and global policies will all be key elements.
Graduates of the program in public policy can find jobs as entry to senior level managers and elected officials within local, state or federal governments. They may also work for companies, nonprofit agencies, lobbyists and other special interest groups that work to represent the public in government and private sector issues and decisions. Public policy graduates may work as advocates, advisors, or even complete law degrees focusing on public policy and legal development.
