Distance Learning & Online MBA for Physicians Degree Programs
Graduates of the MBA for physicians program will have the knowledge and skills needed to successfully manage their own offices, health care management and administration, as well as understand the legal and regulatory issues regarding having their own private offices or treatment facilities. Basically doctors completing this degree will be seeking to improve and enhance their business skills as they related to the health care industry, rather than focusing on primary health care issues. The courses, while focused on management and administrative skills and knowledge will also be practical in application.
Classes are typically designed in residency type arrangements that allow the doctors to continue to work while gaining the skills needed to perform administration skills needed to run a health care related office or business. Classes will include issues such as supervision and management, human resource development and staffing, financial and accounting issues, billing and accounts receivable, and required reporting to local, state and federal authorities. In addition doctors will learn about information technology and informatics, the appropriate privacy and confidentiality issues around patient records, and issues regarding management of office inventory, supplies and items.
Physicians completing the degree will be qualified to more business related positions with hospitals and health care facilities. Many physicians that wish to advance as department heads, lead physicians, or even to chief executive officers or executive directors in hospitals, clinics or health care facilities will benefit from completing this course. Classes will be individualized to match the career goals and work environments of the doctor, while also providing a strong business background in health care issues. Some students may choose to focus on a particular topic such as information technology, staffing issues or financial aspects of health care management, and this can all be incorporated into the MBA degree.
