Distance Learning & Online Liberal Arts Degree Programs
Graduates of a liberal arts program have the opportunity to work in many different fields and careers as the broad scope of the program allows for customization and a wide base of knowledge. The average salary for a liberal arts graduate is lower than those students that complete a specialized degree, but between the ages of twenty to fifty those with a liberal arts are actually earning more that their specialized counterparts. The liberal arts degree focuses on teaching critical thinking skills, the ability to analyze data and problem solve as well as understand and communicate issues effectively. The graduates a liberal arts program will often continue on to specialized management programs and move into advanced management positions within a variety of types of agencies, companies and non-profit organizations.
A graduate of a liberal arts program can complete either an associates, bachelor or masters degree in liberal arts. As the student advances through the programs they will be encouraged to specialize in one or more areas. Many liberal arts students major or emphasize business, management or administrative programs to prepare them for entry-level positions in various companies and organizations. Students may also complete a minor in a comparable or related program. This combination of two or more subject areas can make an ideal combination for many business careers, political or governmental positions, or even as teachers and educators.
Students can take classes from a variety of subjects and fields including computer technology, literature, history, sociology, life sciences, criminal justice, music, philosophy, or communication. Students at all levels should work closely with a counselor or faculty advisor to ensure that they complete all required courses plus complete the necessary components for the major or minor. Courses may be completed in an online format, traditional classes or in a combination of formats.
