Almost any company, organization or service that shares information over a network or through the internet can benefit from the services of an information assurance consultant or professional. Not only do information assurance professionals find problems or possible leaks or breaches within the system, they also can work to prevent these problems from developing in the future. This assurance is very important for most companies and agencies, as well as for their customers and clients. Students may also find work in law enforcement agencies, through private investigators, or even in government oversight agencies such as Homeland Security.
Classes within the information assurance program include advanced network security, cyber laws, ethical considerations and protocols, computer forensics and examination, finance and accounting principles, intrusion detection systems and monitoring, e-commerce policies and safeguards, secure websites, encryption, decision making, reporting and leadership skills.
