Distance Learning & Online Health Promotion & Education Degree Programs

A degree in health promotion and education is a combination type of study that will allow graduates to work in almost any health, fitness or education related field around physical fitness, health and fitness, or issues around health educations. Graduates may find work as fitness trainers, fitness experts, personal trainers, adult educators with regards to health and fitness or as life coaches, mentors or rehabilitation consultants. Graduates may complete a generalized degree or they may choose to focus in one area of training. Graduates may also work as public relations and public coordinators for health and fitness at community, local, state or federal levels. Private facilities, hospitals, community centers or sports or fitness promotion companies or agencies may all be ideal work environments for a graduate of the health promotion and education degree.

Courses that students may choose to take will vary depending on the area that they wish to continue in either through further education or transition into the workplace. Typically health promotion and education students will take classes on fitness and nutrition, counseling, sports medicine, patient training and fitness, development issues for both adults and children, substance abuse, lifestyle management as well as medically related topics. Classes on presentations, communication, information delivery as well as public speaking and public relations will also be addressed throughout the program.

In addition to just health promotion and education students may also take additional programs to give them expertise in areas such as helping people to stop smoking, dealing with alcohol and substance abuse recovery, weight management, working with obese individuals, fitness and health issues for people with physical disabilities or working to promote health and fitness in young children, teens or adults. These programs are often supplemental areas of study within the health promotion and education program.
