With the dramatic increase in the popularity of computer, video, handheld and arcade style games the need for designers for new games continues to increase every year. An experienced graduate of a program in game art design can anticipate earnings of between $30,000 and $100,000 per year, depending on the number of projects they are qualified for and their level of specialization. Highly experienced game art designers may work independently or on a project-by-project basis, often being requested by the companies to return to work on other projects as the game evolves or becomes popular.

Courses in the game art design program focus on the practical and theoretical applications of designing, developing and programming a game. This includes graphic design, layouts, backgrounds, multimedia inclusion and coordination, computer programming, character development, story line and game play for multiplayer functions over the internet. In addition courses will focus on computer programming languages, operating systems, and integration of all the components of the game into one program. Graduates will learn to evaluate, analysis, troubleshoot and resolve problems and conflicts within the game art design and the various other aspects of the gaming program.
