Distance Learning & Online Electrical Engineering Degree Programs

Graduates of a program of study in electrical engineering are usually highly motivated individuals that enjoy the challenge of working with state of the art technologies and systems. Electrical engineers may work for electronic development and production companies, in automotive or aerospace industries, as developers of new technologies for computers and other technology devices, or as professionals within government, private sector or public departments, offices and companies that work within the engineering field. Many electrical engineers work as consultants, especially if they have higher level degrees and specialized certification in conjunction with their engineering professional certification. The more specialized areas of electrical engineering such as computer systems, nanotechnology, microelectronics and semiconductors, signal processing, wiring and pulse and logic circuitry all require certification as well as regular professional development and continuing educat! ion to keep abreast of current trends and new developments.

Most classes within the field of electrical engineering will have both a theoretical or knowledge building component as well as options for students to get hands-on experience within the technology. This dual learning system assures students that they will be prepared to work in real world situations without having to learn on the job. Most students that are entering a degree program in electrical engineering have already worked within the field as electricians, apprentices, or electrical technicians within a specific type of electrical work.

Throughout the program students will develop their ability to problem solve, troubleshoot and work in teams as both team members and leaders. They will learn effective communication, research techniques and logical and sequential approaches to challenges and problems within the field of electrical engineering. Graduates will have little difficulty in finding work, especially if they choose to complete additional courses in computer technology or advanced electrical systems, circuitry or microelectronics that are used in new computer system development.
