The amazing variety of courses and career options in the art field make it a popular area of study for a wide variety of students. The very nature of an art degree gives the maximum amount of flexibility to students while still providing a well-rounded education that is in demand in many area of the business world. Art graduates can find work in many different areas including business, design, sales and marketing, advertising and management, art history, education and design just to name a few. The average income for art graduates is $31, 640 with some graduates earning over $113,000 per year. Much of the variation in salaries is due to different levels of experience, location of the job as well as the type of employment.

Students that complete an art degree can expect to choose from courses such as art history, music, visual arts, art education and art throughout the ages. In addition specific areas of focus such as animation, digital art, ceramics, drawing, sculpting, photography, printmaking or photography allow the student to personalize their course of study towards their individual interest. Students may also generalize and take a wide variety of subjects within the art field, especially if they are interested in art history or art teaching and education. Computers and their relation to animation, two and three-dimensional art and the art of web design and graphics may also fall under the broad category of an art degree.

Typically students graduating from an art program will work within the field with a mentor that will help them apply their knowledge to practical experience. Many graduates find work as graphic and advertising designers, storyboard artists or even those involved in video, music and film making careers.
