A general yet highly beneficial program, the Master of Science in education with an emphasis on K-12 teaching and learning prepares the graduate from roles as a teacher-practicioner or researcher or as an administrator with a specialized department, a lead teacher or as a trainer or specialist with a school district. Graduates will learn the skills needed to be advanced level teachers in the K-12 school as well as work in teaching other teachers in the skills and disciplines.
Courses within the program of study include science courses and speicalizations, mathemetics, educational leadership, reading, science, student assessement, curriculum development and the use of technology in the classroom. The program can be complete with a major emphasis in one of the above areas or the student may choose to select a variety of courses and keep their study more general in scope. Additional classes are also offered in methodology, research, working with gifted and talented or special needs children and even school and educational leadership.
