With a Bachelor of Science in Health Administration with a specialization in long-term care students will be prepared to manage and evaluate current long-term care facilities, evaluate patient care procedures and implement current changes in health care systems. The course of study will focus on the theory behind the practices and procedures in long-tern health care administration and how to effectively evaluate the system and plan and implement change. Graduates will learn personnel management strategies, effective decision making and how to work within systems to effectively make meaningful and appropriate change.
While the emphasis in the course will be on the specific issues relating to long-term health care students will also complete business management courses including financial management and planning, human resource management, strategic planning, operational and organizational structure and decision making strategies. Students will also learn about research methods, patient care strategies and the use of technology in health care administration.
