The Bachelor of Science in education with a specialization in elementary teacher education will provide students with the theory and skills needed to work within the elementary school. Students will learn the practical aspects to teaching methodologies in various subjects within the elementary school, as well as the correct applications and technologies that can be used within current and future teaching practices.
Students will learn about child development and psychology, student learning, working with special needs students as well as working with parents, school administration and within the legal and ethical issues that teachers must consider. Students will learn about effectively communicating with others, about the history of the educational field, as well as the current and future trends in education. Assessment and evaluation, research in education as well as practical classroom management strategies will be included throughout the 24 month course of study.
