The Bachelor of Science in economic crime investigation provides graduates with the skills needed to monitor, assess and investigate criminal activity over the internet and within networking systems. The graduates can find careers in law enforcement, private computer security companies, or as managers of cyber crime or e-business and information technology departments. Many graduates may also work for private investigators or as consultants for forensic computer crime investigations. The courses will focus on both the theory behind economic crime investigation as well as the current software applications and skills needed to investigate cyber crime.
The courses within the BS in economic crime investigation includes classes in finances, business management, accounting and bookkeeping principles and practices as well as auditing procedures. Students will also complete classes in legal and ethical issues in economic crime investigation, court proceedings and preparing for testimony. Students will have the opportunity to study illegal practices in economic crime as well as fraud and security issues involved in online transactions.
