Understanding how to run a kitchen and being able to motivate others are the goals of this degree program. Students will learn the importance of supervising others, managing the front of a restaurant, and also managing finances. While there are several people who usually work in culinary management, students will learn about each of these jobs in order to have the skills needed to find employment after graduation. Understanding customer need is essential in order to be successful in the restaurant business.
Courses students will need to complete include culinary management, business management, human relations, customer service, and finance. Students will also learn how to manage different areas within a kitchen so the food prepared is good enough to be served to customers. Culinary management can be competitive because the success rate of restaurants is low. Having the skills needed to give customers what they expect will help students succeed in this field.
