This program is accredited by the National Head Start Association, National Association for the Education of Young Children, Child Development Associates Competency Standards, California Child Development Permit Matrix and the California Pre-Kindergarten Learning Development Guidelines, giving students a competitive edge in various education systems. Students combine theory, hands-on experience and research to develop their abilities to run positive, effective learning environments for young children. Classes include Cultural Pluralism: Impact on Early Childhood Development and Education; Child, Family, School and Community; Language Acquisition and Emergent Literacy; and Play as Pedagogy, giving future teachers a solid background in psychology, sociology, communication and other disciplines.
