Those who already have a bachelor’s degree, but who want to teach mathematics, will be able to do so once they earn a degree in teaching. This degree program will teach students the fundamentals of teaching mathematics to children in grades 5-9 or 5-12. Teaching mathematics requires not only patience, but also an understanding of problems that can occur while teaching. Controlling a classroom, teaching to all students in the classroom, and testing fairly are all skills students will need before they will be able to teach in the classroom.
Courses students will need to complete include teaching techniques, test writing, student evaluation, communication skills, and public speaking. Students will be taught how to evaluate individual students as well as entire classes, how to communicate with parents and guardians, and how to create curriculum that is educational and entertaining at the same time.
