Cleveland Institute of Electronics

Cleveland Institute of Electronics’ goal is to prepare students to become skilled technicians and engineers who will solve electronic engineering and computer technology problems. They hope to do this through offering flexible and accessible classes so that students can gain valuable educational skills while maintaining family commitments and present employment.

The Institute was started in 1934 and has served an international student body from its Cleveland, Ohio, campus since then. The school was originally founded as the Smith Practical Radio Institute by Carl Smith, but as technology changed and evolved, so did the Institute and the name was changed to reflect that. Since its creation, the school has seen thousands of students through to graduation with Associate's or professional certifications. The school also has a subsidiary school, the World College, which offers bachelor degrees in a wider range of subjects.

The Cleveland Institute prides itself on providing distance learning opportunities to anyone with the desire to learn, regardless of race, religion, sex, disabilities or age. The Institute has been involved in distance learning for quite some time, and in 1969 even developed the first customized laboratory equipment for home use so that students could take part in learning from their homes just as they would in the classroom.

Students enrolling in the Cleveland Institute of Electronics will be able to take online classes to earn an Associate's degree in Electronic Engineering and IT and Systems Management, as well as brand new degree programs to earn Bachelor's degrees in those same subjects. Students will also be able to take a wide variety of classes online, ranging from Introduction to Computers and Microsoft Office to Broadcast Engineering. Students will gain access to knowledgeable professors, get online support and even have access to a school-based bookstore.
